Last year, the Federal Government decided that in order to eliminate a growing backlog of permanent residency applications that was causing some applications to take almost a decade to be processed, they would just get rid of some of the applications that were clogging up the system. Unfortunately, some of the people whose applications were deleted had been waiting years, with their lives on hold.
As a result of the deletion of their applications, they launched a legal challenge against Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney. However, on April 18th 2013 the judge rendered his decision, saying that the decision to delete the applications could not be overruled.
