Immigrant investor applications in Canada

On December 1, 2010, applications for the federal Immigration Investor Program will be accepted by Citizenship and Immigration Canada. The program was suspended in June 2010 because of a backlog in applications, as well as to prevent a spike in applications after recent changes were made.

New qualifications for Immigrant investor applications in Canada

Canada has the lowest requirements for our investor program when compared to other countries according to Citizenship and Immigration Canada. Previously, immigrants needed a net worth of $800,000 and had to make an investment of $400,000. Now, both of those figures have doubled:

As of December 1, 2010, applicants must have a net worth of $1.6 million and be able to make an investment of $800,000.

“Higher investment amounts mean provinces and territories will receive more investment capital to put toward job creation and economic development projects,” said Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney in a statement.Permanent residency visa for immigrant investor applications.

Under the Immigrant Investor Program, immigrant investor applications will have the applicant receive a permanent resident visa along with guaranteed repayment of their initial investment.
