(Below is a transcription of this video)
Hello. This is Michael Niren, immigration lawyer and founder of visaplace.com. So Canada has welcomed its first two start-up visa applicants pursuant to their new Start-up Visa Program. The Start-up Visa Program is to encourage entrepreneurs from other countries to come to Canada to invest and to grow their businesses in Canada.
Qualifying fot the Start-up Visa Program
In order to qualify for the Start-up Visa Program, you have to have a post-secondary education of at least one year, invest in an angel investor, be invited by an angel investor or an incubator, or a start-up fund that will help grow your business and invest in your business and usually the investment amount is 75,000 to 200,000, depending upon the nature of the investment.
Applicants are encouraged to seek out these opportunities. So the first two applicants have been processed according to Citizenship and Immigration. The company in question is at Vancouver-based fund called GrowLab Ventures and it’s good news for candidates, it’s good news for entrepreneurs. I’m hoping that a lot more applicants will be processed under the start-up visa program because it’s a win-win for everybody.
The Start-up Visa Program is Good for Canada
Canada needs investment, Canada needs entrepreneurs and this is a great program to match up people who are willing to take risks and grow businesses and to match them up with venture capital funds, incubators, or angel investors.
Are You Interested in the Start-up Visa Program?
So, we look forward to assisting applicants who are interested in the Start-up Visa Program. So, I like to report good news sometimes, not very often, from Canada Immigration, but this is definitely a nice thing to know that investors and entrepreneurs are being matched up in Canada.
Thanks and have a great day.
