The TN visa is a popular choice for many Canadian citizens who have job offers in the United States. One of the components of this visa that makes it ideal for many is that it can be applied for at the United States border or port of entry when you go to start your new job. Requirements for the TN visa in the United States
Applicants who wish to work in the United States on a TN visa must be Canadian citizens with a valid passport that will not expire before the TN visa does, which is three years.
The applicant’s job offer needs to be formatted as a petition for a TN visa by their potential employer, and the job itself must require a high level of education and skill as per the jobs listed in the NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) for this particular visa.
The applicant needs to be able to demonstrate through supporting documents that they are qualified for the visa they have been offered.
In addition, the TN visa is not a permanent visa and applicants need to be prepared to show they will leave the United States and return to Canada when necessary.
