CAN+ Program for Mexicans Coming to Canada

As reported by Canadian Government News on May 12, 2014 – The federal Canadian government is making it easier for Mexican nationals to travel to Canada. “Under a new program called CAN+, Mexican nationals who have travelled to Canada or the United States within the last 10 years will be eligible for expedited visa processing”. Immigration Minister Chris Alexander said in a statement announcing the program.

Understanding the Benefits of the CAN+ Program

The CAN+ program builds on a successful six month pilot that streamlined visa processing for an expected 50% or more Mexican visitors travelling to Canada with visas issued within seven days and an approval rate of over 95%.

A stand out benefit of implementing such a program is; by fast-tracking a large number of applications, CAN+ is freeing up visa officers to work on other cases. As a result, the program is improving overall Canadian visitor visa processing times for all Mexican travellers.

Those eligible for CAN+ do not need to provide as many supporting documents when submitting their applications. Less paperwork is another way CAN+ makes it easier for eligible Mexican citizens to apply for a visa and come to Canada.
