How to Deal With all the Immigration Changes in 2015

(Below is a transcription of this video)

Hi. This is Michael Niren, immigration lawyer and founder of VisaPlace.com. We are asked about all the changes to immigration in the last six months. There’s been a tremendous amount of change. It’s been overwhelming. For example, the labor market impact assessment for temporary foreign workers, express entry for permanent resident applications, and living caregiver applications have been changed in terms of the rules. There’s just been a myriad of different changes in immigration law on the Canadian side and the U.S. side.

How to Handle the Immigration Changes in 2015

How do you handle it? Good question. It’s not easy. Basically, it’s very tough to keep up with the changes and what the rules are. Sometimes, the government itself doesn’t even know what the procedure is exactly. They announce the change and then afterwards, institute procedures.

It puts people on a very precarious situation when they’re interested in immigrating to Canada or the United States. Our job is to make sure that whoever wants to hire us and needs assistance is put in the best possible light and is able to go through the process properly. Sometimes, we have to tell people that look, “There’s a new category. There’s a new approach.” We have to first understand and know exactly what’s involved before we take on your case because the worst thing that could happen is we file an application and all of a sudden, the law changes midway.

Talk to a an Immigration Lawyer if you’re Interested in Immigrating to Canada/USA

It’s very important to be very cautious about which category is which now. The law changes so fast and I’ve been doing this for 18 years now. I’ve been doing immigration law, and I’ve never experienced such a pace of change like we have these days. It’s very important that when you are interested in immigrating to Canada or United States even temporarily or permanently, that you speak to someone who is aware of what’s going on and can give you the best possible advice before pushing go. That is probably the most important piece of information I can give you for 2015. I don’t think the pace of change is going to slow down. I think there’s going to be more and more changes, some for the better, some for the worse. Thank you for watching. Visa place helped me with my daughter’s sponsorship 3 years ago. Last week I contacted them for some clarification on a different matter. It was about an issue which technically was a problem of CIC’s software glitch and had nothing to do with Visa Place.
Yet Reena Sandu was assigned for my case. she helped me with enthusiasm and showed no hesitation despite me being an ex-client from 3 years ago.
I was very happy that even after 3 years of finishing business, Visa Place were respectful of their clients. Special thanks again to Reena for her enthusiasm and support.
