What is an L-visa for the US?

The L1 visa is a type of work visa available for foreign nationals and business owners who wish to expend their business to the United States or who are being transferred to the United States. This visa allows the foreign national to work in the United States legally at an office that has a relationship with the foreign company. L1 work visa

However, not just any employee and not just any business can apply for this visa. Like all work visas and work permits for the United States, there are certain requirements you will have to meet in order to be eligible to apply for one.

Requirements for an L1 work visa for the United States

Applicants for this visa must work in an executive position, a managerial position or in a specialized knowledge position at a foreign company in order to be eligible for this work visa. In addition, the applicant must have already worked for the company for one year full-time within the last three years.

There are also requirements that the foreign company must meet. For example, the foreign company must be related to the company in the United States as either a parent company, a subsidiary, a branch, a joint venture partner or an affiliate.

The foreign company must also be actively in business while the L1 visa holder is in the United States.
