Hi, this is Michael Niren, an immigration lawyer and founder of visaplace.com. Employers now have to be very careful about complying when they’re hiring foreign workers. There’s now what we call a blacklist published on the CIC website.
Understanding LMO Work Visa Non-Compliance and the Blacklist
This blacklist is a list of employers who are not compliant with hiring foreign workers; the requirements for hiring foreign workers. For example, like offering them the required wages or working conditions etc.
When you are hiring a foreign worker and you’re an employer, you have to meet strict compliance requirements. So now, if you don’t, you run the risk of being published on the immigration website. So it’s more important than ever that employers know what their obligations are when hiring foreign workers.
Are You Interested in Avoiding Potential Blacklisting?
What we recommend when we represent employers, is to go over the requirements before even making an application to service Canada; to make sure they are in a position to comply. So, this is important news, and I hope everyone takes it seriously. Otherwise, you could be prevented from hiring foreign workers in the future and be suspended from applying for LMO’s; either temporarily, or even permanently. This is Michael Niren, have a great day.
