Requirements for a TN visa for the US

If you are a professional who has a job offer in the United States, you may qualify for a TN visa. This is a special visa for Canadians (and citizens of Mexico) only, and the application process is relatively fast compared to other types of visas. However, that does not mean that this is an easy visa to obtain. There are many strict requirements that you must meet in order to be eligible to apply for one otherwise you can face a denial.

Requirements for a TN visa

There are several requirements for both the worker and the job in the United States when it comes to the TN visa. The job must be in a professional occupation as designated by the NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) list, which includes jobs like doctors, nurses, scientists and engineers. The job offer must be also formatted in the correct way as a TN visa petition.

The applicant must be able to demonstrate they are qualified for the job that they have been offered, using their resume, educational transcripts, proof of applicable certificates and licenses and work history where relevant.
