The United States and China entered a reciprocal agreement at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit last year that will extend the length of short term business and tourist stays for the citizens of each country. Qualified applicants from China can now obtain multi-entry B-category nonimmigrant visas that are good for up to ten years. This new type of visa also makes travel less expensive as tourists no longer must apply annually meaning processing fees are reduced.
These changes have led to an influx of Chinese tourists visiting the United States. Last year alone, 1.8 Million tourists from China visited the U.S. and spent around $21.1Billion cumulatively. These numbers are only expected to grow, by 2019 it is expected that China will send 3.1 Million visitors to the United States which is an increase of 172%.
