Canadian immigration form prepared incorrect due to disability
A woman who lives in British Colombia, moved to Canada from the United States after marrying a Canadian in 2004. She has three children with him ranging in age from three to eight. Initially, the woman thought that because she had married a Canadian, she did not need to apply for citizenship. However, she was eventually told she would have to apply to be sponsored.
The Canadian Border Services Agency informed the woman that she would have to leave Canada and not come back for one year because of incomplete paperwork. Canadian immigration forms are quite complex, and the woman’s dyslexia made it difficult to fill out the forms properly. Much of the forms were submitted incomplete.
The woman was eventually granted a one-month extension, in which she may have the time to complete the Canadian immigration forms properly.
