Immigration news update:
We have some very exciting news to share with you today: the Government of Canada has promised to look into its foreign worker policy. Under the new liberal government, we have seen quite a few positive changes and we are hoping more will follow.
Here are some of the changes:
- There were better processing times for family reunification application
- The number of applications allowed for parental sponsorship had doubled
- The government is increasing the number of immigrants it’s receiving every year
Most recently, the Minister of the IRCC, John McCallum, had announced that Government is looking into its policy towards foreign worker and possibility of giving them better access to permanent residency.
Under the current policy, highly-skilled foreign workers have a better opportunity to apply for permanent residence through express entry. However, hardworking low-skilled foreign workers don’t have much access as much as higher-skilled workers — even after many years of working and being settled in Canada. This results in them being forced to return to their country at the end of their work permit validity. This is unfair for many people, who have to separate from their family and want to build their future in Canada.
This problem had caught the government’s attention.
We’re hoping a lot of positive changes happen in near future so that low-skilled worker who are the pillar and backbone of Canada’s industrial economy would have a better chance to immigrate and bring their family with them. We will update you as soon as we have any new developments, so stay tuned.
